FROM OUR CHAIRMAN'S HEART
| |
Blessings, and DeColores! The Apostle Paul was talking about three new converts who had come to him and supplied some of his needs when he said, "For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition." (1 Corinthians 16:18). I am personally grateful to more than a hundred times that many of you, men and women, who have refreshed my spirit and the spirits of hundreds of Candidates who have attended our Weekends this year. This has been an exceptional year for TDNG and our newest sponsored community, TDNEGA. We praise God for all He is doing through the prayerful, dedicated servants who continue to give of themselves to Him and the Kingdom work of Tres Dias. We also need your continued prayerful support as we continue to seek His will in all decisions concerning these communities. The circumstances that surround us create both barriers and opportunities. As a matter of fact (and FAITH), we believe that every barrier that Satan would use to slow or stop our mission, is another opportunity to see the mighty hand of God and learn to trust Him more. I was reminded of an illustration a management consultant gave once. He placed a block of wood, shaped like a brick, on its end on a table. It represented a barrier to our mission. He pushed on the base of the block and it moved, but stayed right with his finger. Then he said that sometimes you need to enlist the help of "someone higher" in the organization to overcome the barrier, and he pushed near the top of the block. The block (Barrier) fell over. Remember that we have a personal relationship with God, the "highest power" in the universe, through His Son Jesus. There is no barrier that Satan can put in our path that God, in His time and in His way, cannot help us overcome. Stay Faithful! I leave you with this promise from Abba. "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Proverbs 11.25) In Christ's Lavish Love, George |
TDNG BY-LAW CHANGES
| | In order to keep current with current roles and functions of some postions on the Secretariat, some changes are needed to the by-laws. A summary of the proposed changes is:
- Our By-Laws approve a Newsletter position called Newsletter/Webmaster.
- Functionally, we have had two people serving in those positions, since they have become diverse enough to merit the attention of two people.
- Additionally, the person who serves as Webmaster also provides our systems support.
- The proposed change to the By-Laws simply separates the functions currently done through the service of two individuals into two distinct positions.
- This does NOT increase the number of voting members on the Secretariat; the vote that the current Newsletter/Webmaster Position has will follow the Webmaster/Tech Support Position.
- The roles and reporting relationships of a Document Control Manager are defined.
If you would like more detail concerning the exact wording, email
news@tdng.org

SECRETARIAT POSITION OPEN
| |
Our Secretary, Delphine Craig, is having to step down from her position, and we need someone who will talk with us about taking her unexpired term (now through December, 2013). The person who accepts this position would then be eligible to stand for election to a full 3 year term, but that is NOT a requirement to fill this position for the next 15 months.
If you are interested in this position, please contact our Chairman, George Flury, either by e-mail (chairman@tdng.org) or by phone/text to 770-331-6760.

PALANCA GUIDELINES
| |
Palanca is a powerful part of any weekend. When sending palanca, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
-Rollo Room Palanca: Six (6) containers (one for each table) or 60 individual items. (This will include some extra).
-Bed Palanca (Candidates): 42 individual items (one for each Candidate; please include extras). Individual bed Palanca for the Candidates is not allowed.
-Bed Palanca (Team): You may give individual bed Palanca to teammates or you may wish to give some to each team member (84; please include extras), please remember the Weekend is for the Candidates . . . think of them first.
-Kitchen Palanca (126): For the dining tables at meals. Please include extras to allow for breakage, etc. This Palanca should be given to the Head Kitchen to use as needed. This Palanca is greatly appreciated by the Kitchen Chas.
-Banners: May be "theme" banners or a banner of your choice. They should be no wider than three (3) feet and no longer than five (5) feet. Please give banners to the Palanca Cha at send-off with a list of those who helped create it and when to present it. All banners become the property of Tres Dias.
-Prayer Palanca: The community provides prayer throughout the entire 72-hour Weekend. Even though a person is not serving on the Weekend, he or she can be an essential part by praying for an hour. It is vitally important that prayer cover the whole Weekend. If someone calls you to pray for a Weekend on which you are not serving, please commit to pray for an hour and keep your commitment.
-Oven Palanca: Baked goods from the community provide desserts for the Weekend. Someone may call you to help with baked goods or you may call the Secretariat Palanca Couple to volunteer. Put baked goods in something that does not need to be returned, put your name on the package and take it to send-off.
Thank you for your commitment to pray, bake, love and give of yourself!
Each Weekend is a blessing to the candidates, team and community. You may create a Palanca blessing by yourself, but also consider working with your reunion group or a friend to enjoy fellowship while you create your Palanca.
Remember what Palanca did for you!

FROM THE SECRETARIAT
| |
Please note that touching candidates during Serenade is against TDNG policy. We ask your cooperation in this area.
Also, the taking of pictures and/or recording the weekend in any manner is prohibited. Tres Dias is a cloistered weekend and candidate and team privacy must be respected.

SECUELA NEWS
| |
The next Secuela will be at Piedmont Church on November 10th at 6:00. Please be there to welcome new Pescadores to the community, and to see old friends. It is always a covered dish meal, so plan on an entree for 10-12. We worship, hear testimonies, have a meditation, and share communion. It is a sweet time with the Lord and brothers and sisters in the community. We hope to see you there!
Bring your best covered dish to serve 10-12, and call a Tres Dias friend and bring them too!
We hope to see you there!
Tim and Joan Kiger
Alpha couple for Post Weekend/Fourth Day
All secuelas are at Piedmont Baptist Church unless otherwise noted

CAMP OF COLORS
| |
In addition to normal maintenance activities, the Chapel carpet has been Cleaned, the entrance area has been cleaned, painted, and draining problems on the walkway have been addressed.
The warming oven in the kitchen has been replaced and leaky kitchen faucets have been repaired.
An architect has produced drawings for the reconstruction of the bathrooms. If you would like to submit a bid for this work or want more information, contact jon@jonwnewcomer.com. This work will be done over a period of time based on free periods at the camp and the availability of funds.
The Board would like to replace the road sign. A Board member knows of a company that is willing to produce the sign, but we need a design. If you would like to submit a design for the sign, send an email to napcha@bellsouth.net with your design.
Also, we would like to widen the walkway between the building and the chapel by two feet. If you would like to submit a bid for this, contact Dave Vinke at dwvinke@gmail.com..The Camp of Colors exists to be a place for Three Day Movements to hold weekends. The Board is comprised of members from each community that holds weekends at the Camp as well as "at large" positions. For information about the Board of Directors, the history of the Camp, weekend schedules, etc., visit www.campofcolors.org

TRES DIAS GUIDE FOR TEAM MEMBERS
| |
The following continues a series of excerpts from The Tres Dias Guide for Team Members.
TALKS ON THE FIRST EVENING
The first evening contains two meditations which are given by clergy. For the candidates, this is a time of transition from a busy world into the Weekend. It is a time for introspection. It is the threshold to the pilgrimage. The theme of the Weekend is announced in the two meditations: KNOW YOURSELF and THE PRODIGAL SON.
KNOW YOURSELF invites the candidate to take a candid look at themselves. This meditation invites them to "come to themselves" to identify their potential and their limitations.
THE PRODIGAL SON meditation assures the candidates that, just as the father in the parable loves his two sons, God loves each one of us. He comes toward us with open arms to greet us. In fact, He expects us and has a feast ready for us. (As an option on a Women's Weekend, the Hosea-Gomer story [Hosea 1-3]. or the woman taken in adultery [John 8:1-11] may be used.)

SECRETARIAT REMINDERS
|
The Secretariat would like to remind you that it is inappropriate to bring children to send-off, closing, serenade or other Tres Dias functions that are not "family affairs".
Further, only those that have attended a recognized 3-day weekend may attend Tres Dias functions.
We appreciate your understanding and compliance with these Tres Dias requirements.
- - -
Also a reminder to sponsors - Please urge your candidates to leave all cell phones & electronic devices at home so that they can block out the outside world & spend 3 days focusing totally on God and what He has in store for them.
- - -
There has been a growing issue with sponsors bringing candidates to send-off that have not been called for the weekend by the Secretariat. We would ask that, to avoid embarrassment to yourselves and your candidate, that you NOT bring anyone to attend a weekend that has not been called by the Secretariat. If you have a candidate that can attend at the last minute, write "last minute" on the top of the application and the application will be handled accordingly. For questions about this, or any area of sponsorship, contact the appropriate Secretariat member.
- - -
We would like to remind everyone in the community that names and addresses from weekend rosters, team lists, and or the TDNG database are for TDNG use only. This information should not be used for solicitation, or any other purpose not related to TDNG business.
Each Rector who serves the community agrees to be responsible for the collection of the team fees for their weekend. In some cases, it has been interpreted that they would have to pay for any fees that were not paid by team members. This is not the intent. It is the Rector's responsibility to ensure that a full weekend fee is collected and paid to the Secretariat, but the fee is not his/her personal liability. Any shortfall should be taken care of by scholarships and remaining incidental fees. - - - If you have a need to inform the community of a ministry, prayer need, employment opportunity or need, we encourage you to use the Facebook page mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter.
