Take a moment and watch Bob Lupton, the keynote speaker for SCANPO's 2013 Together. For Good. Nonprofit Summit, in this thought provoking video.

Praise for the First Federal Sponsored GP&BP Workshops
The introduction of SCANPO's third edition of Guiding Principles and Best Practices was well received by more than 200 individuals representing 150 nonprofit organizations throughout the South Carolina Lowcountry.
First Federal and local partner agencies provided support for workshops in Florence, Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Bluffton and Charleston. Nonprofit board members, staff and volunteers represented the broad diversity of missions and programs found in the nonprofit sector. The workshops provided excellent opportunities for collaboration and discussion. Local partners included the Coastal Community Foundation, The Chapin Foundation, Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation, Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, McLeod Regional Medical Center, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry and Waccamaw Community Foundation along with United Way of Horry County, United Way of Florence County, Georgetown County United Way, United Way of the Lowcountry, and Trident United Way in Charleston.
"First Federal was pleased to assist SCANPO with the introduction of this powerful resource," said Lynn Greer, Vice President, Nonprofit Treasury Officer. "This collaboration was an excellent example of communities coming together to help nonprofits deliver quality programs and services in South Carolina."
If you wish to see additional GP&BP workshops offered in your community in partnership with local Grantmakers and Business partners, please email Madeleine McGee

Minor Mickel Shaw To Lead The Duke Endowment
Trustees of The Duke Endowment have elected Minor Mickel Shaw to serve as chair of the board.
Shaw will be the tenth person to hold the position since the Endowment's founding in 1924. She succeeds the late L. Neil Williams Jr., who headed the Endowment board from January 2011 through August 2012.
"The Endowment family still mourns the loss of Neil Williams, but his strategic planning will continue to shape our efforts to strengthen North Carolina and South Carolina and serve the people who live here," Shaw said. "Each of my predecessors led us with integrity and skill, and it's truly an honor for me to follow in their footsteps."
