Those excuses were keeping Brenda weighed down with an extra 20 pounds, low energy and back pain.  In her "60 Second Inspiration" story she shares how she changed her priorities and her outlook. Her story airs during the WBKB 6pm news TONIGHT!

Power of 10 Winner
Congratulations to Tracy Freeman, this
month's Power of 10 winner!  Tracy had at least 10 workout check-ins and earned $10 in BAC Bucks.

Tracy started his fitness journey in 2013, when he felt unhealthy and underweight.  He knew he needed to make some positive lifestyle changes and began lifting weights at the club. 

Today he works out regularly and feels better than ever.  He looks forward to the challenge each workout brings.

Community Outreach

It's amazing what a community can do when it comes together.  In June we were able to raise $500 for Hospice of Michigan between two special Sweat-for-a-Cause events.  Thank you to all of the members who enjoyed the workout and supported Hospice of Michigan!



Bay Athletic Club team member Chrissy Carriveau led an obstacle course for kids at the Early Childhood Block Party last month. BAC was happy to be part of the event to help promote an active lifestyle to young kids.

Healthy Food from Kelly!

Simple Summer Salad
It's the time of year where turning on the stove isn't the most desired way to cook so I thought I would share this delicious, BBQ friendly, salad I created recently.

Ingredients:
-1 lbs. chicken breast, grilled, chopped tossed with small amount of bbq sauce.
-Tons of romaine
-Grilled corn, kernels cut off
-2 radishes, sliced thin
-Handful of drained black beans
-1/2 cup of cilantro leaves
-1/2 cup of tomatoes, sliced
-Tiny bit of cheese (optional)
-Tops of green onion, sliced
 
Toss together, and eat!

The Best Things in Life Make You Sweaty. Do You Agree? 
 
Hello from Bay Athletic Club in Alpena, Michigan. The weather has been fabulous. I've been enjoying time at our cottage with my family, paddle boarding and teaching classes at the club. The kids are off from school and active as ever. They are swimming, biking, playing beach volleyball, playing soccer, sailing on Lake Huron and more. Colt and Jade spend hours at our basketball hoop shooting around and scrimmaging. I love seeing them embrace fitness as a way of life. 

As a family, we value 
activity and time together. I encourage you to limit your (and your kids & grandkids) screen time and make physical activity a part of daily life this summer. It can be easier to flip on the TV, grab a phone, tablet, or laptop to stay occupied. But easier isn't better when it comes to our health.  Be a great role model by being active yourself. Others around you are watching. Inspire them. 

BAC has been all over town with our 10 Day Outdoor Adventure Boot Camp. It is amazing and fulfilling to see happy people of all ages and ability cheering each other on at the beach, the island and on the trails. We are a stronger community because of it. Need a boost for July? We have all kinds of ways for YOU to stay active  -- from 10 Day Camo Boot Camp to Train to Paddle to Body Beauty to Group Ex Rocks or workouts at either BAC or Bay Urban. We have you covered!

This is the time of year that people who are fit and healthy enjoy life even more. You are not limited by your body, you are empowered by it. People who exercise are happier, healthier, less stressed, more confident, more adventurous and can simply move better through life.
