March Break Madness has descended upon us here at the garden centre. Every year we hire a group of students to help us plant up all the hanging baskets, annual pots and perennials. It is totally crazy but incredibly successful. The students gain work experience, insight into the greenhouse process while earning some money. We always get to meet some great kids. Wish us luck!

The first week of Victorian Hanging Basket Workshops were fantastic. Some really beautiful creations are now growing on in our greenhouse.

DORMANT OIL

ATTENTION ALL FRUIT TREE OWNERS

This serves as your official reminder that the time has arrived to apply DORMANT OIL to your fruit trees.

What is Dormant Oil you may ask?

Dormant Oil Kit

It is a mixture of Horticultural Oil and Lime Sulphur.

Mixed together it's a one-two punch to help your fruit trees produce clean disease and pest free fruit. It is considered one of the best organic defenses against diseases because the spray coats any over wintering spores, fungus and pests. Dormant Spray can damage leaves and needles on trees and shrubs. Therefore, it is important to spray your fruit trees when they are dormant, before the buds have begun to open (bud-break) in early spring (March/EarlyApril).

It's also crucial to choose a clear dry day, with no breeze and above freezing temperatures. Before you begin spraying be sure to assess your trees for any dead, crossing or broken branches for now is an excellent time to prune fruit trees as well.

Get inside and out of the cold this March with our annual Victorian Workshop series. A fun way to be creative while getting your hands dirty!

Spend the afternoon in our warm greenhouse learning the fundamentals of designing and planting your own gorgeous Victorian Hanging Basket or Container with our resident design guru Liz Gemmell.

We'll take care of your creation here at the greenhouse until May.

Great fun afternoon out with friends! Book early for groups!
