We are back from the 2015 NAB Show, the annual trade show where we formally introduce our new products and price list for the year, with exciting news! ESE Won a 2015 NAB Best of Show Award for one of our new products! For those of you who weren't at NAB or haven't seen our award-winning product, check out What's New for NAB 2015.
One benefit of reading our monthly Newsletters is most of the NEW Products were introduced exclusively through emails prior to the show! For May, we didn't choose a NEW Product of the Month. We chose a very popular, powerful product for our dedicated readers.
The Product of the Month for May is the HD-488E/SD. Its predecessor (the non-E version) introduced Time Code for SDI Video. With the enhanced unit,"the universe of time code just expanded." The HD-488E/SD offers more flexibility and more features to one of ESE's most popular products. In fact, it was first introduced in June 2013, and has been one of our best-selling products every month since it began shipping.

HD-488E/SD: HD/SD SDI Time Code
Reader, Generator & Inserter

The HD-488E/SD is a Time Code Reader, Generator and Inserter that accepts all common formats of HD or SD SDI video. The HD-488E/SD is extremely versatile, and with the many options available it can do nearly everything in the SDI video time code "universe." The HD-488E/SD is an enhanced version of the HD-488/SD. New features include seven selectable color fonts, closed-caption insertion of time code, RP-188 time code functionality in both HD and SD modes, selectable onscreen date formats and front-panel entry of user text data.
The HD-488E/SD generates, reads and inserts SMPTE Linear Time Code (LTC), Digital Vertical Interval Time Code (D-VITC) and RP-188 Time Code. The reader mode allows embedded time codes (and User Bits) to be displayed via dual LTC outputs . The inserter mode provides the ability to superimpose time and/or user bits and/or up to 30 characters of text onto video with alphanumeric characters displayed on up to three different, independent windows. Additionally, the HD-488E/SD can transcode RP-188/DVITC to LTC and vice versa, as well as, embedded time code into RP-188/DVITC. It can be used as a Master Time Code Generator, and with additional options it can generate and/or read and insert other time codes.
