When Michael Hester was still at Williams-Sonoma, he contracted with me to create a handwriting-style logotype for their cooking school in Australia. He selected one of my roughs, but wasn't sure whether he wanted the logo to be smooth-edged or textured. So, I did both versions for him.
I scanned the selected rough and created the smooth version using the pen tool in Illustrator. Then, using that art as my reference, I drew the textured version using a grease pencil on paper. Yep, old school. For a cooking school. Poetic justice.
If you are keeping score, he choose the textured version.
Aloha,
John
