Dear Friends,

Happy spring!  May is a breathtaking time in Vermont, as our landscape transforms from shades of brown to fresh, lush green.  For those who are perhaps most eagerly anticipating that transformation - the gardeners, farmers, and herbalists among us - we have a particularly special event this month:  On May 28th, we'll celebrate the release of The Organic Medicinal Herb Farmer, by Melanie and Jeff Carpenter.  But first, we'll kick May off with Independent Bookstore Day and continue the festivities during Children's Book Week.

Read on for more on these exciting events and the latest news on Phoenix Books Rutland - and click any of the images in the sidebar to explore a selection of our favorite new books for all ages.

Sincerely,

THE NEWS FROM RUTLAND
Location, Location, Location

Phoenix Books has signed a five-year lease on a portion of the former Lake Sunapee Bank building, in Rutland, Vermont!

"I could not be more excited about our future in Rutland," co-owner Michael DeSanto said. "I think we found the perfect space, directly across from the Wonderfeet Children's Museum, in the heart of downtown. The store will be a warm, welcoming community space where people can relax, slow down and connect with books and each other. It will be much more than a bookstore."

MELANIE & JEFF CARPENTER: THE ORGANIC MEDICINAL HERB FARMER *BOOK LAUNCH*
Thursday, May 28th at 7pm in Burlington

Calling all plant lovers!  Launch into summer at this book release celebration for The Organic Medicinal Herb Farmer with Melanie and Jeff Carpenter, as well as special guest Rosemary Gladstar!  We'll have favor bags for the first 100 attendees in the door, prizes from Zack Woods Herb Farm and our other cosponsors, an Urban Moonshine bitters tasting, and light fare provided by City Market.

Jeff and Melanie Carpenter own and operate Zack Woods Herb Farm in Hyde Park, Vermont. Both a business guide and a farming manual, their book The Organic Medicinal Herb Farmer will teach readers how to successfully grow and market organic medicinal herbs. Whether you're trying to farm medicinal plants, culinary herbs, or at-risk native herbs exclusively or simply add herbal crops to what you're already growing, successful small-scale herb farmers Jeff and Melanie Carpenter will guide you through the entire process - from cultivation to creating value-added products.

Seating is limited, so be sure to pick up a ticket!  Tickets are on sale now at both Phoenix Books locations.  Your $3 ticket includes a coupon for $5 off The Organic Medicinal Herb Farmer!

Thank you to our cosponsors!
