NON-FICTION
The Wildlife-Friendly Vegetable Gardener, by Tammi Hartung - Kristen's staff pick!
Kristen says, "The Wildlife-Friendly Vegetable Gardener is, itself, a friendly book. Packed with practical advice from author Tammi Hartung's own experience, this book has a lot to offer even experienced DIYers. Thanks to Hartung's readable, vivid style, as well as loads of vibrant, folksy illustrations, it will appeal to even armchair gardeners, and will certainly make a great read during the late winter months anticipating the arrival of the growing season. A must for anyone who wants to enjoy productive gardens but still have a respectful relationship with those flora and fauna so often referred to as 'weeds' and 'pests.'" (Paperback, Gardening)

YOUNG ADULT
The Diviners, by Libba Bray
Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It's 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult. Evie worries he'll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer. (Paperback, Ages 15 and up)

RAISING PASSIONATE READERS These hand-selected new releases are perfect for Valentine's Day - or any day spent with loved ones!

Love Monster, by Rachel Bright
Love Monster is a slightly hairy monster trying to fit in with the cuddly residents of Cutesville. But as it turns out, it's hard to fit in with the cute and the fluffy when you're a googly-eyed monster. And so, Love Monster sets out to find someone who will love him just the way he is. (Picture Book, Ages 2-4)

Paul Meets Bernadette, by Rosy Lamb
Paul is a fish who used to go around in circles. He made big circles and little circles. What else was there to do? Until one day Bernadette drops in and shows Paul that there is a whole world out there, right outside his bowl, with so many things to see. Simple saturated paintings play off this charming ode to an active imagination - and the way that life changes when you open your eyes. (Picture Book, Ages 4-8.)
Penguin in Love, by Selina Yoon
When Penguin finds a lost mitten on the ice one day, he wonders who it belongs to--after all, every mitten is part of a pair! But the longer Penguin searches for his mitten's other half, the more he wonders if he, too, has a perfect match. Prolific author/illustrator Salina Yoon's spare text and bright, energetic illustrations bring to life this endearing story celebrating love in its many forms, reminding us that the greatest joy comes from being valued for exactly who you are. (Picture Book, Ages 3-6.)

The Runaway Hug, by Nick Bland & Freya Blackwood
When Mommy jokes that she only has one hug left, Lucy decides she must keep Mommy's last hug safe. As Lucy shares the hug with everyone in her large and loving family, she is always careful to get it back...until the canine member of the family refuses to play along! This charming story celebrates the imaginative powers of children and the extraordinary love to be found in ordinary bedtime routines. Beth says, "I love this messy, realistic, love-filled family." (Picture Book, Ages 3-7)
