FICTION

Stella Bain, by Anita Shreve
When an American woman, Stella Bain, is found suffering from severe shell shock in an exclusive garden in London, surgeon August Bridge and his wife selflessly agree to take her in. A gesture of goodwill turns into something more as Bridge develops a clinical interest in his houseguest. In a narrative that takes us from London to America and back again, Shreve has created an engrossing and wrenching tale about love and the meaning of memory, set against the haunting backdrop of a war that destroyed an entire generation. (Hardcover, Fiction)

White Fire, by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child
"Sherlock Holmes fans will relish Preston and Child's 13th novel featuring eccentric FBI agent Aloysius Pendergast (after 2012's Two Graves), one of their best in this popular series...easily stands on its own with only passing references to Pendergast's complex backstory." -Publishers Weekly (starred review)(Hardcover, Fiction)

NON-FICTION

American Mirror: The Life and Art of Norman Rockwell, by Deborah Solomon
As the star illustrator for The Saturday Evening Post for nearly half a century, Rockwell portrayed a fantasy of civic togetherness, of American decency and good cheer. But who was Norman Rockwell? Behind the folksy, pipe-smoking façade lay a surprisingly complex figure--a lonely man all too conscious of his inadequacies. American Mirror draws on unpublished papers to explore the relationship between Rockwell's anguished creativity and his genius for reflecting American innocence. (Hardcover, Biography)

Both Flesh and Not , by David Foster Wallace
Both Flesh and Not gathers fifteen of Wallace's seminal essays, all published in book form for the first time.
"Scarily astute....Published originally between 1988 and 2007, these essays demonstrate Wallace's interdisciplinary approach to both pop culture and abstruse academic discourse....For Wallace devotees, these essays are required reading." -Booklist (Paperback, Essays)

Homemade Liqueurs and Infused Spirits, by Andrew Schloss - Kristen's Staff Pick!

"Homemade Liqueurs and Infused Spirits is a delight from cover to cover, from an entertaining introduction to the basics through the sections on making spirited bevvies with fruits, flowers, coffee, and more. Andrew Schloss' recipes are delectably creative and easy to follow. The gorgeous photography juxtaposes the original ingredients with the finished product. This book will have you concocting your own in no time!" (Cooking)

Hostage Three, by Nick Lake
From the Printz award-winning author of In Darkness comes a thriller that's as fast-paced and dangerous as the seas on which it's set. As Amy sets out to sea with her family on a yacht, the only things on her mind are peaceful waters and the warm sun. But then a group of pirates seize the boat, and the family becomes a commodity in a highly sophisticated transaction. Something even stranger happens as she builds a close bond with one of her captors, making it brutally clear that the price of life and its value are two very different things. (Hardcover, Ages 12-17)
