Brainstorm Challenge - Paper Airplane Action!
Monday, November 4 - 11:00 to 3:00
Mondays during the school year whenever the Traverse City Area Public Schools have a scheduled day off, we offer Brainstorm Challenge, with special programs aimed at school-aged children. Join us for some experimental fun and learning.

Did you ever wonder how a bird or an airplane stays in the air? Making paper airplanes can help you understand. Children will experience the fun of creating and flying paper airplanes while learning about aerodynamics.

We'll have suggested designs and pre-printed templates. Test your theories about which designs work best. You can also experiment with an electric paper plane launcher.
SwingShift and the Stars!
Third Event - Friday, November 18, 6:30 -10:30 pm
The Great Lakes Children's Museum had another great time at the October SwingShift and the Stars event, a dance-off charity benefit in Traverse City. It was fabulous fun for everyone who attended. They got to watch the competition and get out on the dance floor themselves. For more info about the event click here or the SwingShift logo below.

Lars and Lauren performed a really fun and funny dance for the October event, but facing harsh judging, came in 4th place. For photos from October click here or on their photo.

The Great Lakes Children's Museum raised $4,247 in October for a season total of $7,467.

SwingShift ClickableTickets are going really fast for the November event. You can order online by clicking here or on the SwingShift logo or calling the City Opera House box office at (231) 941-8082.

The final SwingShift event will be held on:

December 29

For November only the band will be Rebooted, with a great repertoire of country and classic rock. Join us for a really fun evening and help raise money for the Great Lakes Children's Museum.
November Toddler Time Activities
Fridays, 10 am to 12 pm
Toddler Time offers a unique opportunity for our youngest Museum-goers to interact with each other and learn essential skills through specially designed, developmentally appropriate activities. Offered every Friday morning, Toddler Time is included with the price of admission or the cost of your annual membership.

One, Two, Three! November 1

This activity is easier than one, two, three! Toddler math smarts begin with manipulating many small items. Filling and emptying, matching and pairing, pouring and stacking!

Make Some Noise! November 8

Bowls and spoons! Buckets and pans! Empty containers of all kinds! Children will explore the sounds that everyday objects can make. Make a shaker to take home.

Buried Treasure, November 15

Children love the idea of finding hidden objects! Children will awaken their sense of touch by searching for small items (beans, dried corn, pasta, and bird seed) buried in "fun to touch" mediums.

Drip Drop, November 22

Drip water colors on a paper filter to create a rainbow of fun.

No Toddler Time, November 29

Happy Thanksgiving!

Museum Store Feature - Out of the Box Games
Why was six afraid of seven? Because seven ate nine!

Out of the Box Publishing creates innovative and award-winning card games that provide fresh, fun, and engaging ways to enjoy time with friends and family. This game can be learned in minutes, is colorfully illustrated and fun to play, and features dynamic player interaction from start to finish. Great for a family gathering during Thanksgiving.

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3! Players add, or subtract, 1, 2, or 3 to the number on the top card on the pile to determine if they have a card that can be played next. Sounds simple, but with everyone playing simultaneously, the options are constantly changing. The first player out of cards wins!

For ages 8 and up.

The Museum Store also stocks "Bug Out," a fast-paced matching game. For ages 5 and up.

How wonderful it would be if we could help our

children and grandchildren to learn thanksgiving

at an early age. Thanksgiving opens the doors.

Thankful children want to give, they radiate happiness.
