September Schedule Changes
Summer's almost over and we will be closed on Labor Day. We will also be closed from Tuesday, September 2 through Friday September 6 for deep cleaning and repairs. We reopen the following Saturday with our regular school-year schedule of InterActive StoryTime on Wednesdays and Toddler Time on Fridays.
The Museum is in SwingShift and the Stars!
First Event - Friday, September 20, 6:30 -10:30 pm
The Great Lakes Children's Museum is proud to be a part of the Sixth Annual SwingShift and the Stars, a dance-off charity benefit in Traverse City. The Museum is one of six charities picked to benefit from the event, which is modeled after the popular "Dancing with the Stars" television show. For more info about the event click here or the SwingShift logo below.

Lars & Lauren Our Star dancer is super Museum dad, Lars Kelto. His dance instructor is Lauren Harris. They are working hard to learn their routine and wow the crowd. We are extremely grateful for their willingness to volunteer their time and talent for this special series of events. For more info about our dancers click here or on their photos.

SwingShift Clickable Tickets are going really fast for the September event. You can order online by clicking here or on the SwingShift logo or calling the City Opera House box office at (231) 941-8082.

September Toddler Time Schedule
Fridays, 10 am to 12 pm
Toddler Time, our most popular program, offered every Friday from 10-12. It is an opportunity for toddlers to interact with each other and learn through a variety of activities and experiences. Toddler Time encourages toddlers' natural curiosity, enhances fine and gross motor skills, guides appropriate social behaviors, and facilitates essential cognitive growth. Most importantly, it's fun! Toddler Time is included with the price of admission or the cost of your annual membership.

Tracking Your Child's Growth
We start each Toddler Time of the new school year by benchmarking the children's growth and development. Make a hand print of your child's hand and a year from now you will be amazed to see how much they've grown! Do you still have a hand print from last year? Get it out and compare.

Handy Prints, September 13

Children will create a lasting record of their size, by making a hand print on frame-able fabric squares. Fun shapes and stamps will also be provided to experiment with lots of colorful fun!

Wonderful Wheels, September 20

Wheels are rolling! Children will manipulate cars and trucks on a small roadway. Vroom Vroom! Send small cars down the ramp too!

Lots-A-Blocks, September 27

Build and stack with every kind of block imaginable! We will have a great collection of blocks for kids to play with and explore. Some will be made of recycled items from around the house.

No Program, September 6 - Museum Closed

September InterActive StoryTime Selections
Wednesdays at 11 am

Owen, by Kevin Henkes, September 11
Owen had a fuzzy yellow blanket that he took with him everywhere he went. What happens to the blanket when Owen goes to school?

Little Beaver and The Echo, by Amy MacDonald, September 18
Little Beaver lives all alone by the edge of a big pond. Surprises are in store for him when he hears another lonely voice across the lake and sets out to find a friend.

Red, Red, Red, by Valeri Gorbachev, September 25
When all the neighbors see Turtle, they want to know why he is in such a hurry. He has no time to tell them. All he can say is that he is going after red, red, red.
