KLEIN FAMILY SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS DESIGN
In recognition of a major gift from both the Philip and Harriet Klein Foundation and Michael F. Klein, the University of Baltimore introduces the Klein Family School of Communications Design, part of the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences and home to the University's lauded programs in writing, digital communication, integrated arts and more. The new name reflects the importance of the endowment to the continuing growth and progress of the school, according to University officials. Continue reading the news release.
MSB SPEAKER SERIES
Join the Merrick School of Business in welcoming Sheila Bair to campus on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss her forthcoming book Bull by the Horns: Fighting to Save Main Street from Wall Street and Wall Street from Itself.

In her book, the former Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation chair describes the conflicted world of bank regulation in our democracy. She'll provide the audience another authoritative view of the degree to which fraud was the root problem on Wall Street. Visit this event web page for more information.
IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY DISCUSSIONS
Is there anything that technology does not touch in modern life? Is there some aspect of human interaction that remains beyond the reach of phones, computers, cameras, data collection, market research, etc.?

This fall, the Klein Family School of Communications Design's Ampersand Institute for Words & Images will host a series of enlightening and empowering discussions about the phenomenon. "The Impact of Technology," a five-part series, will consider this global evolution from a variety of perspectives, inviting UB faculty and special guests to engage in dialogue about this important development. The first discussion, "What is Design, and Why Does it Matter?", is this Wednesday, Sept. 18, 5:30-7 p.m. in the Business Center Auditorium. Learn more about this series.
HELP LAUNCH A MERRICK STUDENT'S CAREER
The Merrick School of Business now requires undergraduate business students to take a course focused on developing their personal and professional skills, so they can successfully interface with potential employers. MSB would like you to consider attending one or both of their Management 330 Networking Events to lend your knowledge and advice to students. Specifically, the students need you to critique their interpersonal behavior and professional conduct; and, evaluate their ability to articulate their personal visions, goals, and career hopes.

If you are able to attend either of the following sessions, please contact Stephanie Danesie by email or call 410.837.4883.

Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 8-10 a.m. (continental breakfast)
Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 6-8 p.m. (light food and beverage)
