Greetings!
The new academic year kicks off on August 28 and with it comes many event and volunteer opportunities that may be of interest to you.
Over the past year, we had over 200 alumni volunteers participate in various UB initiatives, ranging from being an active member of a school or college board, to speaking to students in the classroom, to serving refreshments to students following Commencement. Their participation yielded well over 700 hours of service to the UB community. If you are interested in getting more involved this year, please visit this web page to learn more or reach out to us directly with any questions.
Sincerely,
The Office of Alumni Relations 410.837.6131 alumni@ubalt.edu |

JOB SEARCH GROUPS | |
Getting together regularly with a small group of job seekers -- UB students and alumni with different experiences and goals, who encourage and help each other -- often results in helping you find your job faster and easier. With the help of the UB Career and Professional Development Center, two groups are now forming. Each group meets for six weeks starting October 9 and 10. One meets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and the other meets at 1 p.m. on Thursdays. Space is limited to 12. Call 410.837.5440 or mweintraub@ubalt.edu if you're interested! |

The UB Friends Program was created to help international students as they transition into American culture and the university setting. The program matches a new international student with a friendship volunteer (UB student, faculty, staff or alumni) with whom he or she can visit, enjoy an occassional meal, celebrate holidays, participate in community events and enjoy the exchange of international friendships. Visit this web page for more information or contact the Diversity and Culture Center at 410.837.5744 or diversity@ubalt.edu. |
MENTORS NEEDED | |
There is still time to become a mentor this fall. UB's Professional Development Institute (PDI) seeks professional staff, faculty and alumni to serve as mentors for students seeking guidance and support as they set career goals and enhance their experiences outside the classroom. The commitment is flexible and training is provided. You can complete this online application any time. New mentor training concludes around mid-September, so don't miss out! If you have any questions, please contact PDI Manager Meredith Barr at 410.837.5476 or mbarr@ubalt.edu. |
