Last month I wrote about my seasonal clothing swap which I call The Switch. Many of you wrote back with funny stories of your own switch. I appreciated your stories of how hard it was to get rid of your stuff - even if you didn't like it or wear it - and enjoyed hearing how delighted some of you were when you opened your bin of fall sweaters. We're doing well when the little things in life make us happy!

This month I wanted to share one of my favorite stories from your responses. It reminded me that no matter what our age, we can still be true to The Real You.

A Surprising Switch

I heard from a friend I've known for 25 years, who recently went home to spend a weekend with his parents. While he was packing to return to Seattle his mom called for him to come downstairs and help her out. His mom, by the way, is 88 and each month he forwards her my newsletter.

When he got downstairs, he saw a bunch of clothes laid out on the bed; his mom was getting everything from summer put away and rotating her fall clothes into the closet. She was making The Switch! We all know this can be quite a bit of work, especially for an 88-year-old woman, so he helped her finish the project in short order.

The Real You - At Any Age

I have met my friend's mom and she is lovely: gracious, beautiful and always well-dressed. I love that she is still working on keeping herself organized - and in style. She reminds me that you are as young at heart as you choose to be and that it is never too late to work on your own personal style.

Allow this story to remind you that your personal look, The Real You, is inside for you to grab hold of - regardless of your age. If you haven't done The Switch from summer to fall yet, it certainly is time. And if you think it's too much effort, just remember my friend's mom. If she can do it, so can you!

Enjoy this gorgeous fall!
