Tip of the Month

"Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are, and every time you dress, you are asserting a part of yourself."

Dear Friends,

It's hard to believe that we are heading into the busy holiday season once again. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'd like to thank all of you for making 2008 a great year for Inside/Out Style.

I want to let you know that I'm now accepting clients for January 2009. With my December calendar packed, I am looking forward to new experiences in the coming year. If you are interested in getting a fresh start with a new look in 2009, now is the time to schedule some time together.

With the year coming to an end and the holidays fast approaching, it's a great time to get more organized so that you can be ready for a relaxing festive season. A big part of the organization can happen in your closet. Look ahead to the next 5-6 weeks and see what's on your schedule. Is there a formal holiday party in your future? A dressy night on the town? A family holiday dinner or an evening at home with close friends? You will feel better and more prepared - and you'll enjoy the even more - if you know in advance what you will wear.

I'm big into advanced planning - for no other reason than it helps you spend less money. I have a great black shift dress but really needed a skinny belt to make it look "new" again. Because I planned ahead, made sure the dress still fit, and started looking in advance, I was able to find a very reasonably priced belt in my budget that makes my old dress a new winner. I feel like I'm treating myself to a new look and it all happened with one little belt.

As you head into the new year and say goodbye to the old, let this be a time when you treat yourself. And I don't necessarily mean with more stuff. I mean take some time for yourself every morning. Be gentle when "speaking" to yourself about your body. Try to embrace who you are now and spend less time wishing for something different. This is a time when we can all use a little peace on Earth. Let it begin by treating yourself and your body in a kind way.

Dress your best and enjoy the season!

Handmade Jewelry for Women with Personality
I recently came across the work of Beth Hemmila, a jewelry designer based in Portland, Oregon. Her latest line of handmade creations is called "The Orchard" and includes pieces created with various personalities/moods/personal stories in mind; some examples are "Contessa," "Bon Vivant," and "Minx." Take a look at these lovely concoctions of fine metal and precious gemstones. Perhaps you'll find one that expresses "The Real You!"
