The Sage Canyon Student Council will host our annual Halloween Parade
for kindergarten through sixth grade students on Wednesday, October 31.
The parade will begin at approximately 8:15am on the upper grade playground.
Parents are invited to attend the morning parade.
Please stand in the designated parent viewing
area on the upper grade blacktop.
Don't forget to bring your camera
to capture the fun!    

  
We are asking for your help in the selection of appropriate
costumes, and for wise parental judgment in what you allow your
child to wear to school on this day. Please encourage your child to
select a costume reflecting a positive emphasis such as a hero,
storybook character, cartoon character or a humorous depiction
of everyday life.  Please refrain from the use of fake blood,
weaponry or other extremely ghoulish attire. Children may spray their
hair a different color or make up their face, but spray cans, gel,
or make up containers are not permitted at school.

Please be especially cognizant of the diversity within our school
community, and refrain from selecting a costume that could be
offensive to some members of our diverse population.

    Students should arrive at school in costume. 
Costumes that are difficult to move in, masks and hats will be
 taken off following the parade.  Your child may want to wear his or
her costume over regular school clothes to make this transition simpler. 
Please send a bag marked with your child's name (to store the costume in)
to school with your child.  This will help to ensure it's safe return.

Why adopt new standards?
What are the new standards?
How will they impact our students?




We are looking for parents to act as Grade Level Ambassadors in
Grades K, 1, 2, and 4.  Grade Level Ambassadors act as conduits between
the DMSEF Sage Canyon Board Representative and the parents/room
parents for that grade.  The commitment is minimal, and is a great
way to become involved in achieving the Board's financial goals
of supporting our amazing ESC Teachers.

In addition, we need an additional Sage Canyon
School representative on the DMSEF Board.

Celebrate your child's artistic talents by having them
submit an entry (or multiple entries) in the National PTA Reflections Program.

This year's theme is "The Magic of a Moment" and students
can submit in any of six categories. (Photography, Visual Arts, Literature,
Dance Choreography, Musical Composition, and Film/Video Production)

Please turn in your entry to the PTA Art Portfolio
in the main office by Monday, October 29th!
