Small Employer webinar now online

IMRF continued its webinar series Tuesday, August 18, with the program "What Small Employers (and their Boards) Need To Know About IMRF."

Presented by Louis W. Kosiba, Executive Director, and Mark Nannini, Chief Financial Officer, "What Small Employers (and their Boards) Need To Know About IMRF" covered specific issues and concerns of small employers. The webinar included an explanation of IMRF's benefit structure, an overview of the rate making cycle, and ideas to help employers avoid traps for the unwary. Attendees were invited to submit questions during the presentation, which were addressed during and after the program to clarify and expand on the data presented. A transcript of the questions and answers has been posted to IMRF's website.

In addition to the question and answer session, the complete Small Employers webinar program and the accompanying PowerPoint presentation are available for reference on IMRF's website. Viewers can click the Small Employer Webinar Resources link (located under the "Employers" tab on the home page) to easily access the broadcast, or view and download the slides.

This webinar was the second in a series of online programs IMRF has scheduled for the year. The next program, covering Employer Contribution Rates, will take place Wednesday, October 21. Registration information will be announced in advance of the event.

New Employer Access feature

IMRF's Employer Access has been enhanced with a new feature. Now, Authorized Agents may add a "News Subscriber" to their employer account list so additional contacts may receive IMRF's Employer Digest newsletter via email.

To use this enhancement and add additional newsletter recipients, log in to your Employer Access account.

August 2015 Employer Reminder:

Evaluate positions yearly for IMRF participation

It is the Authorized Agent's responsibility to annually determine whether employees qualify for IMRF participation. This is a very significant responsibility that should never be neglected.

Each year, Authorized Agents must ensure all positions at the employer are reviewed for IMRF participation - whether employees in those positions are currently enrolled or not - because work responsibilities change over time. Changes in hourly status (more or less hours) often affect whether positions qualify for IMRF participation.
