Registration continues for May 5 webinar

Registration continues for the 2015 Employer Rate Meeting webinar, taking place Tuesday, May 5. Employers unable to attend one of the series of Rate Meetings recently held throughout the state have an online opportunity to obtain the meeting's relevant information. Authorized Agents, Chief Financial Officers, governing body members, interested parties, and other officials are invited to register for the 2015 Employer Rate Meeting webinar here.

The Rate Meeting webinar will begin at 1:30 PM (attendees will be able to log in to the event beginning at 1:00 PM). The webinar will review the impact of year-end financial and actuarial data on IMRF, and the data's estimated impact on individual employers. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

Early Retirement Incentive:

Five-year implementation limit

IMRF's Early Retirement Incentive (ERI) is an employer option that allows eligible members to purchase up to five years of service credit at retirement. The ERI is a tool eligible IMRF employers can use to save fringe benefits and payroll costs by providing an incentive for long-term members to retire.

However, employers are limited to offering ERI programs once every five years. If an employer submits a resolution adopting an ERI program before a five-year window has elapsed, IMRF will not implement the program.

April 2015 Employer Reminder:

Attend an Authorized Agent Certification Workshop

Authorized Agent Certification Workshops provide opportunities to learn more about IMRF procedures, changes to the Illinois Pension Code, employer tasks needed to administer IMRF, and other topics that impact member benefits. These workshops are designed for Authorized Agents and other employer representatives who assist with day-to-day IMRF issues and processes.

Workshop attendees will learn more about topics like enrollment and wage reporting issues, expense allowance, health and other life insurance issues, retirees returning to work, and more. The information presented during a workshop may be immediately implemented.

The complete list of Authorized Agent Certification Workshop dates, times, and locations is available online at www.imrf.org under the "Register for Workshops" tab on the home page. Employers may register for a workshop online through IMRF Employer Access. If others at your employer assist with IMRF duties, they should attend a workshop; create a "Web Assistant" account for them through IMRF Employer Access so they may self-register for a workshop.
