Reminder: Evaluate positions yearly for participation

Each year, IMRF randomly audits employers. These audits show that some employers incorrectly identify whether positions qualify for IMRF participation. This has negative financial consequences for both IMRF employers and members.

As Authorized Agent, it is your job to make sure the positions at your employer are evaluated every year to determine whether they qualify for IMRF participation.

This is a significant responsibility that should never be neglected.

Public Act 98-0599 stayed by court

Last month the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court of Sangamon County issued a stay order (a temporary stop) to Public Act 98-0599.

The stay order halts the implementation of the legislation's IMRF-related requirements.

New employees enrolled after June 1, 2014, are not subject to the limitations on reportable earnings and unused sick leave outlined in General Memo 645.

IMRF will inform you of any updates as they occur.
