Employer Access Tip:
Changing a member address
When one of your IMRF members submits a change of address to you, don't forget about IMRF!
You can either advise members to submit a change of address to IMRF through their Member Access account, or you can submit the address change for them in Employer Access.
From the main menu, select "Change Member Information" under "Members." You'll be prompted to select from a list of your employer's IMRF members. Please note you can only change information for your current employees who are participating in IMRF.

Reminder: Evaluate positions yearly for participation
As Authorized Agent, it is your job to annually determine whether your colleagues qualify for IMRF participation. This is a very significant responsibility that should never be neglected. Each year you should review ALL the positions at your employer for IMRF participation--whether they are currently enrolled or not. Why? Because work responsibilities aren't static; they change over time. And these changes often affect whether positions qualify for IMRF. Each year you should determine whether the positions at your employer:- Continue to meet/exceed your hourly standard for IMRF participation
- Require fewer hours and no longer meet your hourly standard for IMRF participation
- Require more hours and now meet your hourly standard for IMRF participation
Expected vs. Actual HoursTo qualify for IMRF participation, the position must require at least 600 or 1,000 hours over the next 12 months, depending on your employer's hourly standard. Measure the hours you expect the position to require against your hourly standard. The actual hours worked may be more or less. - Pay special attention to part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees. Their responsibilities can change rapidly.
- Watch also for those who work more than one position for your employer. Their hours are combined when determining IMRF participation.
- School district employers should especially consider employees who assume additional duties following a Reduction in Force.
