Housing Study Updates House
Community voices were heard.

After 6 months, we wrapped up the public outreach portion of the Regional Housing Study. In addition to community workforce surveys, we hosted a total of 5 public forums that invited voices of all community members- business leaders, civic leaders, local and seasonal residents- in the North Tahoe Region. Bay Area Urban Economics, the study's consultants, facilitated smaller focus groups around specific aspects of the study including employers, consumers and regional regulations as well. Stacy Caldwell and Alison Schwedner also facilitated the May 10th Good Morning Truckee to provide an update and share stories of local perspectives. In total, almost 20 different storytellers shared their unique perspectives of how housing impacts our region. We are so grateful for the community outpouring of interest and support as we work together to identify the realities and potential solutions to our local housing issues.

Next steps include a draft of the housing study which will be completed by the end of June, along with a roll out of solution focused films from Elevate Tahoe.

Leaders seek innovative solutions for regional economy.

76% of our local workforce overpays for housing, and far too many residents are forced to lean on critical needs services when pay checks can't cover it all. Now is the time to pursue viable solutions that will boost our local economy and support the families and residents who call North Tahoe - Truckee home. Sierra Business Council (SBC), the Sierra Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Queen of Hearts Women's Fund have done just that with the Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship Program. The Women's Fund sees a bright future ahead.

In the blink of an eye, TTCF's Queen of Hearts Women's Fund is 10 years old. Over 1,000 women shared the initial dream to create a regional philanthropy fund and influence our community. Collectively, the Women's Fund has granted over half a million dollars! Looking forward, Queen of Hearts supporters plan to inspire more women to join the fund and make their voices heard, grow annual grantmaking, and share their unique skill sets through local volunteer opportunities. To learn more  or to stay engaged, sign up for the newsletter, attend one of the upcoming events, like us on Facebook and save the date for the August Annual Celebration! Visit the Queen of Hearts Women's Fund page and view the Joy of Generosity Brochure.

A Partner in Impact
Strong partnerships advance our community.

The S.H. Cowell Foundation has invested 15 years into our region's families and communities to touch the lives of every person who lives here. In recent years, Cowell supported the Boys and Girls Club Truckee site, 524 affordable housing units, Community House in Kings Beach, and Tahoe Truckee Reads. The Cowell Endowment at TTCF also funds much of the work that CCTT accomplishes. But perhaps the most important work has been the cultivation of strong relationships and local leaders, and this is done through the people behind Cowell. Read more about this incredible partnership
