Tri-Town Celebrates HRSA's Corp Community Day on October 10, 2013

Jim Carleton of Tri-Town describing the new Health Care Laws
Joining more than 130 events in almost every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tri-Town celebrated Corps Community Day on October 10, 2013.  This year's theme, "Access Today, Healthy Communities Tomorrow.", highlights how increased access to care through the Health Insurance Marketplace open enrollment will positively affect the overall health of communities having National Health Service Corps (NHSC) approved sites. The goal of Corps Community Day is to spread the message of the importance of primary care and new health coverage options, as well as highlight all of the impact of Corps clinicians and sites on their communities. Tri-Town is a federally approved National Health Service Corps site.

Tri-Town sponsored well-attended seminars on the Affordable Care Act at their Johnston and North Providence sites, during the day and evening respectively. Many of the attendees and uninsured, under-insured Rite Care and Medicaid patients have been enrolled in health care plans through the Tri-Town Navigators. As a result of the meetings many appointments to enroll in the various plans have been made with Tri-Town staff.
