2012 Indoor Flag Football FAQ Sheet

Q ~ Where will games be played?

A ~ All games & practices will take place at the Tri-Town Community Center, located at 33 Maple Street in North Providence, RI (the former North Providence Boys & Girls Club).

Q ~ How much does it cost to play?
A ~ The cost to play is $30 per player. Scholarships are available for those in need. We ask that all players participate in a raffle to help defray costs associated with running the program.

Q ~ When are practices & games?
A ~ Practices & Games will be played on the same day. Sessions will last for approximately 1 hour. The first portion of the hour will be devoted to practice and skill development. The balance of the session will be devoted to game play. The schedule will be as follows:

K & 1st Grade ~ Saturday mornings at either 9am or 10am
2nd & 3rd Grade ~ Saturday mornings at either 11:00am or 12:00pm
4th & 5th Grade ~ Saturday mornings at either 1:00pm or 2:00pm
6th ~ 8th Grade ~ Monday evenings at either 3:00pm or 4:00pm

Q ~ Are you in need of sponsors?
A ~ YES! Without sponsors we would not be able to offer any of the organized sports leagues that we have been running for the past 2 years. Division Sponsorship ($500, includes your banner in the gym for 1 year), Team Sponsorship ($100, includes your business name on all shirts and uniforms), and individual player sponsorship ($30, pays for a child to play) opportunities are available. Inquire with Justin Waranis at registration about how you can help make our league better!

Q ~ What if my child has never played before?
A ~ Weather your child has played the game of football or not makes no difference to us. We aim to keep playing time balanced and emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development through practice and game play.

Q ~ Can my child play on the same team as her / his; cousin, brother, sister, friend, best friend, new friend, old friend, neighbor, et cetera?
A ~ We recognize that it makes sense to have certain players be on the same team for a multitude of reasons (carpooling, players are more comfortable, busy work schedules). As long as we can maintain balanced teams, we will do our best to accommodate requests to have your child play on the same team as another child, provided you specify this on the registration form!

Q ~ After registration, what is the next step?
A ~ At registration, you will receive an invitation to attend a player evaluation (combine) on Saturday, Oct. 6th. The invitation will include the specific time your child should report to our facility (33 Maple St. NP, 02911). At this evaluation, coaches will have the opportunity to evaluate players so that we can create balanced teams in each of our age groups! ALL PLAYERS WILL BE PLACED ON A TEAM! Please make sure that your child wears athletic shoes, (no cleats, we play all games inside our gymnasium) and shorts, sweatpants, or athletic pants.

Q ~ When do practices and games start?
A ~ Practices and games will start the week of October 13th. The first week will be a practice & scrimmage. Subsequent sessions will follow the practice / game format and will last no more than 1 hour (provided no overtime!).

Q ~ How long will the season last?
A ~ The program will finish December 22nd, with a game and team banquet immediately following.

Q ~ Can players be moved to a higher or lower division?
A ~ Any requests to move a player to a division outside their appropriate division must be approved by the commissioner. All decisions will be made with the best intentions of the player and overall program in mind.

Q ~ If I am interested in volunteering my time, what do I do?
A ~ At registration, indicate that you are interested in volunteering. You will receive a volunteer application that must be completed and approved prior to your participation in any league functions. All volunteers must pass a background investigation before being approved to volunteer. This screening will be conducted by Tri-Town Community Action. If you have any felony offenses, violent criminal history, or any arrests involving children DO NOT APPLY.

Q ~ Can I register an entire team?
A ~ No

Q ~ What equipment is necessary in order for my child to participate?
A ~ Athletic shoes and shorts, sweatpants, or athletic pants. No helmets, pads, cleats, mouth pieces, or any other equipment is necessary.

Q ~ What type of ball do you use?

A ~ We will use a light weight football that is softer than a typical youth football. Balls for this program are provided by the NFL
