New Patient Resource on Cholesterol
Lowering the Fats in Your Blood: A Patient Resource Guide is a new addition to ACU's patient education materials. It is written in simple language to help patients understand "good" blood fats and "bad" blood fats and how they affect risk for heart disease and stroke. The booklet is available in English and Spanish in both an audio and print format. Other titles in the series are Managing Your Pain and Managing Your Type 2 Diabetes. ACU participated in the development of the booklet on blood fats, along with the Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation and Krames Staywell.

The Health Resources and Serviced Administration (HRSA) recently selected the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center to lead a new coordinating center to promote interprofessional education and collaborative practice in health care. The center will receive $4 million over five years. ACU member Barbara Brandt, PhD is Associate Vice President for Education at the academic health center. Congratulations, Barbara!

The ACU Board of Directors extends its thanks to Sandra Leal, PharmD, FAPhA, CDE, a past president of ACU, who stepped down recently after serving nine years on the Board. Sandra has been an active participant in many ACU initiatives focused on advocacy, diabetes, hypertension, cultural competence and access to pharmacy services. She also developed ACU's involvement in social media as a means to connect with a larger audience of clinicians serving the underserved. Sandra is a tireless advocate and we appreciate all she has done and will continue to do. Thank you, Sandra.
