The Domestic Violence Center (DVC) is Requesting $580 - Can You Help?
DVC is seeking immediate assistance of $580 to help a client and her daughter to attend English classes. Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center of Howard County (DVC) currently has a foreign-born client and her teen child in their emergency shelter. She came to this country recently on a marriage visa, but when she got here, her husband was controlling and abusive making her cook and clean and keeping her prisoner in the house. She escaped and someone brought her to Grassroots who connected her to DVC. Neither the client nor her teen speaks very much English. DVC has been intensely working with this family to stabilize them and has partnered with FIRN to help with their immigration issues. In order to be successful here in the US, both Mom and teen need and want English lessons. DVC has searched in vain to find free English classes, but HCCC does offer classes for minimal cost. We are requesting funds to support Mom and teen to attend English classes.
Thank you for your consideration!
