#Giving Tuesday™  is becoming a digital phenomenon, and is an indication of how charitable giving is changing in the world of new media. Giving transactions will occur primarily online, and promotion of the effort has come to life mostly via social media. Giving among young people, many of whom are new to the world of philanthropy, is also expected to be high on #Giving Tuesday™

During this season of giving, we are very thankful for  all of you - our donors and friends.

Thank you for investing in women and girls in our community - both now and in the future.

Volunteer Opportunities

It's the season to give thanks, to donate, and to volunteer. We know many of our donors seek ways to give back in our community and to involve families. Check out The Volunteer Center of Howard County's  2012 Holiday Guide to Giving!
November 2012
Dear WGC Donors and Friends,

This year the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County (WGC) celebrated our 10th Anniversary and the significant short and long-term impact our dollars have made in the lives of women and girls in Howard County.  Please take a moment to look at our short video, A Decade of Achievement, which underscores why we celebrate our collective impact!

Together, We CELEBRATE:

  • The many grants we have given to Howard County organizations
  • The teen age girls we have sent to our Journey Camp
  • The scholarships we have provided to women through Howard Community College
  • The STEM and Mean Girls programs we have coordinated
  • The women and children who have been helped through the Response Network
  • The establishment of the Young Women's Giving Circle, intended to encourage and develop new philanthropists who will commit to life-long giving, and
  • The multi-generational Circle Team members, role models for physical and philanthropic development.
TOGETHER, We Celebrate:
  • 10 years
  • 1000 donors
  • 1,000,000 dollars
  • One Voice

And, while we are proud of the impact we have made, together, we can do so much more.

Our Howard County community is one of the wealthiest counties in the country and to that end, it is our responsibility to ensure that every girl feels empowered to reach her potential by encouraging healthy development and personal authority. We must also help women achieve economic self-sufficiency.

Your contribution will enable us to:

  • Increase our grants to county nonprofits
  • Increase our scholarships that further the education of and open up job opportunities to women
  • Continue to send girls to the Journey camp, and
  • Engage in new partnerships directing our efforts to making women and girls in Howard County feel stronger, healthier, and safer.

If you are not currently part of the Circle, I hope you will join us. Current and future generations of girls and women are counting on us.

Warmly,

Caroline Sherman, Chair
