Join us at NEIU Weekend 2016!
Northeastern invites students, faculty, staff, alumni and neighbors to their annual event
On September 16 and 17, the University will host a weekend-long celebration of everything Blue and Gold. NEIU Weekend 2016 "There's No Place Like Northeastern" gets started on Friday evening with Fall Fest, a family-friendly block party at the Main Campus with outdoor games, food vendors, a beer garden and live entertainment. On Saturday at noon, be sure to join us for our Alumni and Family Picnic, which includes free lunch and parking. Our neighbors are encouraged to join us. Be sure to register online at www.neiu.edu/neiuweekend2016. Hope to see you there!
New CAPE offerings help neighbors become life-long learners
The Fall 2016 schedule of seminars and workshops from Northeastern's Office of Community and Professional Education (CAPE) has something for almost everyone: from those who want to learn conversational Mandarin Chinese to those who want to learn how to start their own business. Northeastern's CAPE provides the University's neighbors and other members of the community the opportunity to pursue professional development or learn something new. Be sure to visit the CAPE website for more information as well as a schedule of workshops this fall.
School backpack drive a big success
This summer, Northeastern joined forces with Cornerstone Community Outreach to collect backpacks for 150 children who are without permanent housing. Thank you to everyone who donated backpacks in time for the start of a new school year.
Northeastern to host Alzheimer's art exhibition
The Northeastern Illinois University Department of Psychology and the Gerontology program will host "Mainly Markers" from Sept. 7-21 in the Ronald Williams Library Gallery. "Mainly Markers" showcases the artwork of the late Betty Z., who lived with Alzheimer's disease before her death earlier this year. The exhibit is curated by Betty's daughter and Northeastern alumna Val McCune and is meant to raise awareness that September is World Alzheimer's Month. Visit our website for more information.

Northeastern needs your input
Our neighborhood spans a large geography that encompasses businesses, institutions and residents who represent a very diverse array of viewpoints. It is important to us that we understand the issues and concerns -- about our events, programming and projects -- that can help strengthen our relationship as neighbors. We invite you to share your thoughts with us online.
