Grand Opening of The Nest, an historic moment for Northeastern
University opens the doors of its first residence hall to the inaugural group of residents
After a little more than a year of construction, Northeastern Illinois University opened its first residence hall, The Nest, which is a six-story, 440-bed building on its Main Campus. So far, the Nest residents represent 11 states and 10 countries with the majority of students being first-year students from a variety of Chicago neighborhoods and suburbs. Be sure to follow NEIU on Facebook to see some photos from the August 19 ribbon-cutting ceremony and to get the latest information about the University.
NEIU Weekend 2016: There's no place like Northeastern!
On September 16 and 17, you are welcome to join students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends for NEIU Weekend 2016. The weekend kicks off with Fall Fest on Friday, September 16, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Main Campus. The event is open to the public and will feature live performances, outdoor games, vendors, food and a beer garden. (Entrance to Fall Fest is free; food and beer will be available for purchase.) Summer Film Series ends with Jack Nicholson, Claudette Colbert
In a partnership with the Northwest Chicago Film Society, Northeastern will wrap up its summer film schedule with two screenings that you won't want to miss. On Wednesday, August 24, watch The Missouri Breaks (1976) starring Jack Nicholson and Marlon Brando. And on Wednesday, August 31, we will screen Zaza (1939), which stars Claudette Colbert and Herbert Marshall. Tickets are $5 for the public ($2 with a NEIU ID) and can be purchased at the door. Northeastern's Jewel Box series begins its 17th season
The popular Jewel Box series is known for bringing local, national and international performers to Northeastern. Performances take place on the Main Campus on select Friday evenings throughout the year. The 17th season starts on Friday, September 16, with a performance by timple player German Lopez. The full 2016-2017 season schedule is available online.
