Learn a skill now, earn NHS and Key Club hours during the year...and make some money for the rest of your high school years teaching K-8 kids.

Dear Chatham High School Student:

For the rest of August, ChathamSTEM is organizing training for students in topics that will offer both volunteering and paid jobs opportunities during the next 4 years. Those topics are:

- Robotics / Mindstorms

- Electronics / Arduino

- Programming / Scratch

- Grade 4-8 Math

- Engineering / Making

The Volunteer hours will count for NHS and Key Club. The Paid jobs will be a nice income for your college years or your other financial needs. And best of all, you will help younger kids develop or grow an interest in Science , Technology, Engineering and Math and make them ready for 21st century. In no time, you will help make our school the #1 STEM program in the area.

But you will not have access to those opportunities if you are not trained. The good news is that you do not need any pre-requisite knowledge to get trained. Here are the opportunities to get trained:

- For the next 2 weeks (August 11-15 at the high school and August 18-22 at the middle school), we need volunteers to help/and learn about Scratch an/ord Robotics for the camps taking place at the Chatham High School 8:30am-11:30am and 12:00pm-3:00m (this week Rooms A130-A132) and next week at CMS (rooms TBD). Just show up there and let the instructor in charge know that you are volunteering to help. If you have a laptop, take it with you.

- In addition, the STEMSquad boot camp will take place during the week of August 25th-30th with three-hour training sessions 3:30pm-6:30pm.

ChathamSTEM Volunteer 2013-2014

I did my share of volunteering when ChathamSTEM first started. It was rewarding to help younger students acquire STEM skills. If you are in the Key Club or applying for the National Honor Society, those hours come very handy.  And once I was trained, it also helped me get paid jobs when those jobs became available during the year and over the summer. Those experiences also helped me for my college application and  ChathamSTEM even helped me secure an internship.
