I think   might be interested in this program. It is open to students grade 8-12 (with different roles).

With the support of a number of professional women in Science, Engineering and Technology organizations, experienced faculty and consultants from Carnegie Mellon University and NJ First, mentors from Cisco's Empowered Women's Network and the National Girls Collaborative Project and the sponsorship of iSocial Smart and Whole Foods Markets, ChathamSTEM is bringing a world-class High Tech/High Stake Learning and Leadership opportunity for the Girls in Chatham interested in participating in the the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).

The program includes:

  • A professionally designed and delivered orientation camp July 14-18 or August 11-15 in Chatham, 9am-2pm,  introducing participants to the principles of design, engineering and programming,
  • A speakers series -for each day of the camp - with a women executive with a career in science or engineering,
  • An exclusive program of visits to technology landmarks in the tri-state area
  • A fall 2014 (Northeast)  and spring 2015 (West Coast) study trip to world class academic institutions and Science  landmarks at MIT, Harvard, Yale, Apple. CalTech, Berkeley,...
  • A one-hour consultation with a leading College advisory consultant from CollegeWise, the authors of STEM's many branches

 

When: July 14-18  or August 11-15,  9am-2pm

Where: Chatham High School Room L13

Cost: $200 for the whole week!

 

After the camp, those who decide to join the team are warned that they will experience the hardest fun ever !

Q: I can not attend the whole camp, just 3 of the 5 days

A: That is fine.

 

Q:I am not sure about joining the team and doing competition. Can i still attend the camp ?

A: Yes,  you will be able to make a decision and learn some Engineering and Computer skills

 

Q: If I want to join the team, what is the practice and meet schedule ?

A: Once during week days (6pm-8pm) and once during week end (decided by team members). Practice/build will take place inside the high school.

 

Q: When are the meets/competitions ?

A: There will be two meets during the Qualifying season (around October/November)
