Thanks for a great start to the 2016-17 school year!
To all of our NISD students, staff members, community members and other stake holders - thank you for an absolutely phenomenal first week of school.

As I visited campuses this week, I met so many supporters of our students, and that is why we are blessed to be a part of Northwest ISD. We have many challenges in our future as we rededicate ourselves to be the best district in this great nation in its service to children, and we can only do that by working together on those challenges.

I will look forward to meeting more parents, caregivers and community members as we come together to keep our kids as our first priority. Thank you to our great communities of NISD - we are all critical to move our district forward.

Avoid the traffic for home varsity football games

The new school year is here, and that means the new football season is as well. Be aware that traffic to Northwest ISD Stadium, located at 1937 Texan Drive in Fort Worth (GPS devices may require Justin be inputted instead), is often congested when traveling along U.S. Highway 114 from the direction of Texas Motor Speedway.

This week, the Eaton Eagles play at home at 7 p.m. Thursday, while the Byron Nelson Bobcats play at home at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Northwest Texans also play on Friday, though they play at Alvarado High School at 7 p.m.

For those looking to avoid traffic, read this article for the Northwest ISD Athletic Department's recommended routes and information on where to park.
Meet Dr. Ryder Warren, our new superintendent

Come meet Dr. Ryder Warren, our new superintendent, at a meet-and-greet reception from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30!

The reception will take place at our administration building, located at 2001 Texan Drive in Fort Worth (by the Northwest ISD Stadium). Some GPS devices may require you to put Justin as the location instead of Fort Worth.

Dr. Warren comes to Northwest ISD from Midland ISD, where he was also superintendent. Learn more about Dr. Warren by clicking here to read a brief Q&A that offers an overview of his background.

Congratulations, Eaton Sapphires!

Congratulations to Eaton High School's Sapphires drill team for being selected to perform in the Rose Parade in California on Jan. 2! The historic parade is now in its 128th year and precedes the Rose Bowl, one of the top postseason college football games in the world. Be sure to watch the parade when it's broadcast live on major TV channels. Read more about the Sapphires' selection by clicking here.

Thank an employee who provided great customer service

Have you ran into a problem that was solved by great support from someone at Northwest ISD's central office? Thank that person with a GEM nomination!

In partnership with Chick-fil-A Roanoke, Northwest ISD is launching the GEM ("Going the Extra Mile") award program to honor a central office employee who goes above and beyond to provide customer service that aids the district's core belief providing the best support and environment for students to ensure they are put first. We want to encourage amazing customer service so the needs of our families are always met.

For more information about the GEM award or to nominate an employee for the honor, visit www.nisdtx.org/gem.
