Ponytail Club Cuts Hair for Cancer Patients
Seven students and two staff members from Hughes Elementary School have been growing out their hair this school year to give back for a good cause. On May 19, the Ponytail Club received a hair cut from Steele Accelerated High School cosmetology students. Members of the club donated their hair to Pantene to support cancer patients who want a wig.

This has been a yearlong service learning project that has taught the elementary students the importance of giving back. The student body watched as the Ponytail Club received their haircuts and made their donations. Then, students in the Cosmetology Academy and Shears of Steele Salon explained more about their involvement in the academy and their chosen career path. For a gallery of photos, click here.
