Conklin Receives H-E-B Principal Award
Beck Elementary School Principal Sandy Conklin has been named the H-E-B Excellence in Education Elementary Principal Award Winner. In February, Conklin learned of his finalist status at a surprise school wide assembly. As one of five finalists, Conklin traveled to San Antonio May 12-13 for the awards celebration where he was announced the Elementary Principal Winner at the 2016 Gala at the La Cantera Hill Country Resort.

Conklin is the recipient of $10,000 for himself and a $25,000 grant for his campus. Conklin plans to gather input from parents, students, and staff to decide how best to allocate the funds from the grant to their campus. Read more about the award here, and watch Principal Conklin in action.

 
 
Fort Worth Mayor Tours CTE Programs
On May 11, City of Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price toured NISD's newest campus, V.R. Eaton High School, for a closer look at the career and technical education (CTE) programs offered to NISD students.

BNHS FFA Named State Champions
The Byron Nelson High School FFA Veterinary Science Team set an NISD FFA record by being named state champions. Read more about the team and the next steps in the competition here.
District Recognizes Leadership NISD Grads
Northwest ISD recognized 25 Leadership NISD participants at a graduation at the school board meeting on May 9. Parents and community members involved in the year-long Leadership NISD program were given an opportunity to go behind the scenes for an in-depth look at Northwest ISD. This is the program's eighth year in Northwest ISD. Graduates have gone on to represent NISD as elected school board members, board members on the NISD Education Foundation, committee members, and more.
