NISD Back to School Fair - August 15
The deadline to register for the NISD Back to School Fair is Friday, June 5.  NISD is partnering with United Way of Denton County to host a fair providing families, based on their financial need, free services, community health information, and more. Beck DI Team Places Third in Globals

The Beck Elementary School Destination Imagination team placed third in the Global Destination Imagination Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Blastoff Besties from Beck Elementary School placed higher than teams from Korea and China and was the highest placing Texas team in the nation. Destination Imagination is a creative problem solving educational organization that strives to promote creativity in students.
 


NHS Debate Students Win 10th in Nation

Northwest High School junior Austin Hille and senior Jonathan McNamee placed in the top 10 in the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in Nebraska. After an intense round of competitions, Hille and McNamee advanced to the semi-finals where they placed 10th overall in the nation. The tournament sees hundreds of competitors from across the nation. Because of this national achievement, Hille automatically is qualified to compete in the national tournament next year in Colorado.

VEI Students Receiving Hands-On Training at Multinational Company

Nationally award winning business academy students from Byron Nelson High School toured Ericsson for a hands-on experience at the multinational communications technology services company.  Ericsson employees provided business lessons, with advice and a question and answer session.  Students were able to visit the Ericsson technology lab where they could interact with some of the latest technology that will be available in the next five years. 


 

"Students were incredibly engaged throughout the whole time," said business academy teacher Antonio Banos.  "They were blown away by everything that was presented to them."


 

This year's Virtual Enterprise International business class received more than $1 million in scholarships, awards, and financial aid.

Record Graduates for Leadership NISD Class

Northwest ISD recognized 32 Leadership NISD participants at a graduation at the school board meeting on May 26. Parents and community members involved in the year-long Leadership NISD program were given an opportunity to go behind the scenes for an in-depth look at Northwest ISD. New Legislation Provides Future Opportunities for High School Students

On May 11, Governor Abbott signed Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) into law providing an alternative avenue to graduation for those students who have been successful throughout high school, but have not passed one or two end-of-course exams (EOC).  Learn more about what this means for your children here.
