Film festivals are an essential step to reaching your film's audience as well as catching the eye of distributors. WMM Executive Director Debra Zimmerman will present ways to use the film festival circuit to launch your film, including tips on strategy, packaging your film and how to navigate the scene once you're there.

As film funding becomes increasingly scarce, how will you make your proposal and film stand out in the crowd? Tracie Holder, fundraiser and consultant to WMM's Production Assistance Program, will discuss topics such as writing an effective synopsis, approaching the best funders and avoiding common mistakes, as well as sharing her successes in being awarded grants from the Ford Foundation, ITVS, National Endowment for the Arts, NYSCA and more.

WMM and Debra Zimmerman Honored by NYWIFT at the MUSE Awards! 


New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT) has selected WMM and Debra Zimmerman as the recipient of the 2012 Loreen Arbus Award for Those Who Take Action and Effect Change.


The award will be presented during the 2012 MUSE Awards on Thursday, December 13, at the Hilton New York from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased here.


Also honored this year: Law & Order: SVU actor Mariska Hargitay; actor Lucy Liu; award-winning documentary filmmaker Lisa F. Jackson (THE GREATEST SILENCE, distributed by WMM and SEX CRIMES UNIT, produced through WMM's Production Assistance Program); and WEtv President and CEO Kim Martin.

WMM is Back in the Chase!

chaseWe are thrilled to announce that WMM has been selected to compete for $1,000,000  through the American Giving Awards, presented by Chase. The winners will be announced on NBC, December 8 in a special broadcast hosted by Joel McHale.
WMM was selected as one of 25 nonprofits from 700 that were eligible nationwide - and the only film organization chosen. We are competing as one of five groups in the Heroes & Leaders category.
