FEATURED BLOG
Business development and marketing expert Jackie Marolda says something she often hears from companies when they talk about growing their business is: How can we get near immediate improvements with real value without spending a ton of money? Innovation is prevalent in many forms, she says. "I've seen small, incremental changes in products that are remarkable and increase usability and productivity. And I've experienced the fun of exploring new products due to breakthrough technology that solve problems I never even knew I had. Both types of innovation are exciting, both for the supplier and the user."

FEATURED INSTALLATION
Paper Cutters Inc., Greenville, SC, a converter of paper and board, began in 1981 with a guillotine cutter from Colter & Peterson. President Randy Mathena says every paper cutter purchase has been a used machine. The company's latest addition is a reconditioned 87-in. Lawson. Along with a pair of older 65-in. and 51-in. Seybolds, all are equipped with C&P's Microcut, the automated back gauge cutting system. The cutters are cutting anywhere from 5,000 to 500,000 pieces per job, including plenty of sheet board before it is die-cut. Mathena says cutting accuracy has always been a huge factor, indicating that "as our business developed over 35 years, accuracy has grown in importance for us." He says C&P has a sophisticated system, and they take great care of getting everything worked out. "The machines are now computerized with Microcut, which improves both speed and efficiency and trims within 1/64th of an inch," he says.
