Raimondi & Son Inc., Morristown, TN, is a family-owned business that builds caramel apple production lines for other suppliers, but in recent years, the company has expanded successfully and rapidly by becoming a significant contract film slitting business. The company has recently installed its third 65-in. (1650-mm) wide Titan ER610 compact slitter from Atlas Converting. The slitter features a pneumatically controlled braking system, and a digital edgeguide system controls lateral movement of the unwind reel to +/- 2 in. (50 mm). All installed units at Raimondi include an integral edge trim extraction system and a laser core positioning system. "The Titan ER610 slitter is a great performer for our business," says VP Frank Raimondi (pictured with father Vito). "They are robust and reliable and very simple to operate, which is just want we need for our 24/7 operations. Plus we have a great back-up service with Atlas-Titan being based in Charlotte, NC, which is only two hours away. They treat us like family, not a customer."
