PFFC readers participated in a research project conducted by Cal Poly's Graphic Communication Inst. on key trends changing the digital printing, labeling, and packaging industries. In addition to converters, consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies, contract packagers, and commercial printers were surveyed. Key findings are included in this executive summary, which says 71% of CPGs actively seek converters/printers with emerging printing capabilities, such as digital printing, and nearly 11% indicate they had acquired digital printers for use in-house.

Wax Coatings on Corrugated Are Declining
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL | According to the Corrugated Packaging Alliance, a new study shows the corrugated industry continues to dramatically decrease its use of wax coatings. In 2013, the industry used 39% less was than in 2002, when wax usage was first measured.

Evlon is available in a wide range of thicknesses that can be used in many types of consumer packaging, and in the past, carried a price premium 30% to 40% higher than conventional petroleum-based films.
