For the last 40 years, John Tyler Community College has been serving the community as a public two-year institution of higher education. The College offers a variety of programs and services, with a focus on primarily serving the residents of the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell and Petersburg, as well as the counties of Amelia, Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Surry and Sussex.

DINWIDDIE, VA - Dinwiddie County has received notification that it will receive a 2016 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo), for its Youth Workforce Development Initiative (DCYWDI). The NACo Achievement Award seeks to recognize innovative county government programs across the country.

Dinwiddie's Youth Workforce Development Initiative falls under the auspices of the county's Planning and Community Development division. The initiative was created in 2014, in response to feedback from local business and industry partners regarding the employability and competitiveness of Dinwiddie's young people.
