COLONIAL HEIGHTS - John Brandt, the executive director of the Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce, imagines a Boulevard filled with local mom and pop shops as well as trendy coffee and doughnut shops, much like downtown Petersburg.

Brandt took over the reigns as executive director in January following the death of Roger Green in October. Green served as the chamber's executive director since 2009.
Hopewell to Host Craft Beer Festival

HOPEWELL - The City of Hopewell will hold its inaugural "Wonder City Craft Beer Festival" on May 14, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

The festival celebrates the 100th anniversary of the city of Hopewell, which was incorporated in July 1916. The festival will take place at Festival Park, newly christened by the city for this 100th year celebration.

Festival Park is located at 403 Appomattox St. beside the Beacon Theatre and overlooking the scenic Appomattox River.
