Kroger Completes Purchase of Land in Colonial Heights for a New Store

Kroger has completed the acquisition of a 10.7-acre site at 401 Temple Ave. in Colonial Heights. According to Taylor Long Properties Commercial Real Estate, which brokered the sale, the city of Colonial Heights sold the parcel to Kroger Limited Partnership for $2.6 million.

The new store is scheduled to open in early 2017. Janice Logue of Taylor Long in Glen Allen represented the seller.

Landen Strapping Corp. is recognized around the world as a global company, but the small niche firm isn't well-known in central Virginia.
"People here think of us as a mom-and-pop operation. It's like we don't have street credibility," said Carl Carden Jr., who owns the Hopewell-based company with his brother, Chris. "It's hard to get the word out."
