COLONIAL HEIGHTS - Virginia's Gateway Region's annual report shows the Tri-Cities economy is on the upswing, with nearly 4,500 jobs created and $2.33 billion total in capital investment in the last year.

"Our region has been very fortunate. These are private sector jobs, these are not government or public sector jobs. We had very good numbers each year," said Renee Chapline, president and CEO of Virginia's Gateway Region. "Things do seem to be getting better."
