PETERSBURG - More than 150 local government, education and business leaders gathered for the 54th annual meeting & dinner of Virginia's Gateway Region Economic Development Organization Thursday, April 2, at the County Club of Petersburg. Joe Quinn, Walmart's senior director of public affairs & government relations, gave the keynote presentation addressing the value of manufacturing in the United States.

HOPEWELL - "Let me tell you folks, Hopewell is cranking," Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Thursday, during an announcement that the Ashland Inc. manufacturing facility in the city will invest $89.25 million into expanding production and creating new jobs.

PETERSBURG - Construction of a an asphalt plant slated to bring 37 jobs and entail a capital investment of about $7.3 million, will begin in December. Independence Construction Materials plans to have the plant operational by April 2016.
