Public Colleges, Universities Sign Economic Development Agreement

Virginia's public institutions of higher education on Monday announced a new agreement with state agencies to help promote economic development in the commonwealth.

The agreement between college and university leaders with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia and the Center of Innovative Technology (CIT) renewed and expanded on a similar agreement signed in 2012.

HOPEWELL - Downtown Hopewell will soon be home new businesses toward the end of this year. A preliminary plan calls for a restaurant and doughnut shop, which is slated to be completed in the next eight to nine months. 

Dave McCormack, president of Waukeshaw Development Inc., is currently working on several concepts for downtown Hopewell. McCormack, who runs Demolition Coffee in Petersburg, wants to bring a different vibe to what he calls an underserved community.
