PETERSBURG - Reggie Williams, NBA player and Prince George High School graduate, is aiming to make the city a destination for sports tourism with the addition of a 50,00 square foot, three-court basketball arena to the Petersburg Sports Complex. Council voted last week to transfer five acres of the city-owned Ball Park Drive property at no cost to the Reggie and Pamela Williams Foundation to be used for the facility. The stadium would host Amateur Athletic Union sports tournaments.

In December 2013, Council voted to transfer to the foundation four acres of the proposed site located to the south east of the Petersburg Sports Complex near its entrance. Additional land was needed to provide adequate drainage for the site and also expanded the facility's size by 18,000 square feet.
