ETTRICK - Virginia State University has been awarded a $3.25 million grant from the Department of Labor to develop a training program for the wireless workforce. The program will focus on " educating veterans, displaced workers and others for careers in building and maintaining America's wireless networks" and will be only one of two in the country, according to a press release from the university.

HOPEWELL - A Hopewell project to distribute local swine and cattle products is one of 18 agricultural projects that will receive $1.2 million in state funding.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Todd Haymore joined U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at the Virginia State Fair in Doswell to announce the grants to support agriculture economy and access to healthy foods.
