Virginia Commonwealth University plans to develop a new graduate degree program in supply chain management with Fort Lee's Army Logistics University, Combined Arms Support Command.
VCU President Michael Rao and Maj. Gen. Larry D. Wyche, commanding general of CASCOM, today are to sign the memorandum of understanding to develop the program.
The 12-month master's program will require approval of the VCU board of visitors and the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. It is scheduled to begin next fall in the VCU School of Business.
The program is expected to draw students from the corporate sector as well as the military, and will focus on how to manage the complexities of global supply chains.
CASCOM trains about 185,000 students annually through more than 540 courses taught by the Ordnance, Quartermaster and Transportation schools, Soldier Support Institute and the Army Logistics University.
