CSED flyover experience

CSED hosted a flyover tour over the Gulf on Tuesday, Nov. 18 with CSED's Rachel Pickens and Charles Reddick, Amanda Moore from NWF, Ella Delio and Meredith Dowling from Southwings.
"Recall the Wetlands : A Living Mandala"

Common Ground Relief Wetlands LLC and the Imago Collective are staging "Recall the Wetlands : A Living Mandala", an interactive, solar powered dance performance piece staged amidst a collection of native trees and marsh grasses.

The performances will be held at Common Ground's nursery, 1515 Jourdan Ave. Friday (Nov. 21) at 5 p.m., and Saturday (Nov. 22) and Sunday (Nov. 23) at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. 
Lower 9th Ward Market is now open

Burnell Cotlon held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the Lower 9th Ward Market last week. It's the first grocery store to open in our neighborhood since Hurricane Katrina. 

Sankofa's upcoming events

Join Sankofa Community Development Corporation at the Independence Street Community Garden Build-up this Saturday, Nov. 22, 8 a.m. - noon. They will be creating a community garden at 2001 Independence St. Volunteers are asked to bring comfortable, closed shoes and gloves.

  • Sundays at New Israel Baptist Church, 6322 St. Claude Ave, 
    9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. 
  • Every other Sunday at St. Mary of the Angels Church,

  • Every other Sunday at St. David Catholic Church, 5617 St. Claude Ave., 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Tuesdays at The Lower 9th Ward Senior Center, 5234 N. Claiborne Ave.,11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Lower 9th Ward Raw Honey 

Capstone has done a November harvest of Lower 9th Ward raw honey. Purchase a 4 oz. gift jar with a holiday bow for $3, a 10 oz. jar for $5 and a 20 oz. jar  for $10. The honey will be available at the Lower 9th Ward Farmers Market the first and third Saturday of the month, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 1205 Charbonnet. Family fitness fun

The Doc Griggs 2X's Around the Dome Family Fitness Walk will take place next Saturday, Nov. 29, 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at Champion Square (next to the Superdome). They'll show you how exercise can be fun with Zumba, hula hooping, second line dancing and more. It's free!
