Free kayak tour in Bayou Bienvenue
By Land, Air, and Water: A Community Perspective on Coastal Restoration

We're partnering with Kayak-iti-Yat to offer a series of free activities. Join us for a guided kayak tour in Bayou Bienvenue Sunday, Nov. 2, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. No experience is necessary. Life jackets and training with be provided. All participants must be 14 years or older. Harvest Festival for kids ages 3 - 5  

Total Community Action, Inc. Head Start Program is hosting a harvest festival for children ages 3 - 5 years old Friday, Oct. 24, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at St. David Head Start. This event is a time for parents to register their children for St. David's Head Start Center, located at 1230 Caffin Ave. The afternoon will be filled with fun activities, music, food and a tour of the brand new center. 

To register your child, please bring the following: 
  • proof of income
  • child's birth certificate
  • child's social security card
  • child's current immunization record
  • proof of residence (light bill, lease, etc.)

Old School Blues Party

Tekrema Center for Art and Culture will host its 2nd annual Old School Blues Party featuring Guitar Slim, Jr. The event will take place Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 p.m. This cost is $10 and costumes are welcomed. 
Free legal clinic

Common Ground Relief, Inc. and The Louisiana Civil Justice Center will host a free legal clinic Saturday, Nov. 1, noon - 3 p.m. at 1800 Deslonde Street. Free counseling will be offered in the following legal issues: 
family law, estate planning, housing and landlord tenant issues, government programs, consumer protection matters, employment, elder law, disaster related issues and foreclosure. For more information, call 504-355-0970.
