Energy Efficiency Tips from USGBC Louisiana
USGBC Louisiana offers the following tips to help stay cool and keep your bills low:
- Use blinds, drapes, and shades to block the sun from overheating your home through windows.
- Turn your thermostat up 7-10 degrees during the times that you are away from home, and save as much as 10% on your bill.
- Use fans, even with air conditioners. Circulating air always feels cooler.
- Sealing or weather stripping cracks and gaps around windows, doors, and siding keeps air in your home. This helps with both heating and cooling!
- Keep your AC serviced and change air filters regularly, every 1-3 months.
